The 805 SQUIRREL has a 200kg safe working load making it the ideal machine for Industrial hire fleets, shed construction applications and high pruning because of  its robust construction and many features.

The 80 5 SQUIRREL is similar to the 65 5 having the same size base but with an increased safe working load, the same superior stability, easily adjustable drive wheel track. The differences are that the rear king pin post is 0.3m higher, boom 1.1m longer and has additional ballast for the higher 200kg safe working load.

Two Man Cage (optional extra)

A Two Man Cage with hand controls is also available on 805 model SQUIRREL (shown above & left).With joystick drive & hand controls, this is ideal for hire fleets and industrial applications. The cage hydraulically rotates 45º left and 45º right.  Controls are directly mounted to the valves allowing the operator to phase all movements. Floor has slots for safe drainage and vision below. Tool trays are incorporate into the top hand rail for safe easy work. Safe access is through the rear gate which opens inwards, and sprung closed with two separate latches. 

Compact length

The high king pin post allows the boom length to be significantly shorter and results in greater Squirrel mobility. With the SQUIRREL 65 5 the overall length with cage down is 7.4m with the king pin post height being 3m. If the king pin height was 1.5m high the overall length would need to be 6.5m to reach the same height. This additional 2m length does make a machine very cumbersome.

Swing out drive wheels width 1.9m - 3m

The 65 5 & 80 5 SQUIRREL have the same quick adjustable drive wheel track. The wheels swing out to 3m outside for work and can easily swing in for transport. Safety switches prevent the boom raising above 4.5m if the wheels are not at 3m. The wide wheel base gives a very safe and smooth ride over rough terrain.
Adjusting the wheel track is very quick and fool-proof: use the jack provided to jack up one side at a time, drive wheel assembly slides into a slot and re-pinned in another width setting. The 1.9m narrow setting enables easy transport on car trailers.

SQUIRRELs are fitted with special valving that give a soft start and stop, greatly reducing the jerky effect that other cherry pickers have.

Planetary Drive Wheel Hubs

Drive wheel planetary hubs are specially made for Crendon Machinery and feature, large 8:1  reduction gearbox with an integrated hydraulic motor and incorporate fail safe multi-disc wet brakes as standard. These brakes work when driving down a slope and eliminates creep and overrun. Hubs have quick spring loaded disengage freewheeling as standard. large tapered wheel bearings & cogs; the hub is twice the weight of our competitors. Special seals on the brake piston for long life. Custom made hydraulic motors are fitted to give very high torque at low speed with 350 bar seals. 

Fully enclosed engine compartment

the bonnets are made from heavy steel and will not break with fallen or overhanging branches. For security, the bonnets are lockable and swing up with a gas strut to give easy access for servicing.

A Vanguard v-twin cylinder 16hp engine is standard or optional extra 23hp EFI Vanguard v-twin cylinder engine or Kubota 3 cylinder water cooled 23hp diesel is available. The exhaust is extended and piped low down to the rear of the Squirrel away from workers. Engine auto stops when oil pressure is low.

A sealed enclosure protects all the electrical components.

55 lt fuel tank

The SQUIRREL engine is fitted with a mechanical fuel pump, fuel filter and has a 55 litre steel fuel tank to allow for up to 2-3 days use.

Powerful Triple Pump Hydraulic System

Hydraulics have the capacity to handle steep and adverse conditions.  The system is protected by a very large fine 10 micron suction filter.  Three hydraulic pumps are fitted, 1 pump for boom lift & side swing, 2 pumps for drive wheels. This 3 pump system keep the pressures low.

Soft Drive.  Special valving is fitted that gives a soft start and stop, this allows the operator to drive safely.

The engine base is supported on springs to eliminate vibration.
There are 3 trays inside the engine bay to store tools, wet weather clothing, draw-bar, etc.

Fully Independent Caster wheels

Two independent large diameter caster wheel assemblies provide a very smooth ride over uneven terrain or street kerbs. As one wheel mounts a kerb the other stays at the original level. Effectively the height of the kerb is halved. This allows the operator to comfortably work safely and quickly. These wheels also greatly reduce the possibility of bogging because of the distance between the two. Standard on 80 5 model. Horizontal pivots has a large self lubricating replaceable bush.

Easy lifting  

A single lift point is standard on all 50 5, 65 5 and 80 5 models. It provides simple, very safe and balanced lifting for articulated front-end loaders or cranes to load and unload from trucks.

Genuine Foot Controls

The SQUIRREL is a machine with unique foot controls, giving three dimensional movement without the operator shifting his feet. A wide seat belt holds the operator directly above the foot pedals giving a safe and comfortable working position. The fully adjustable spring centred foot pedals allow you to continue working with both hands free AT ALL TIMES. This proven feature alone makes the SQUIRREL the most efficient machine.
