 Compact Two BoomsBoth these model Squirrels have one longer boom and one shorter boom. In the lowered position the short boom is positioned vertically down. When the long boom is fully raised the oil is then automatically directed to the shorter boom which is then able to be raised in the final stage. The advantage of this is three-fold. 1. The Squirrel boom is 1.5m to 2m shorter than other machines in the market and only uses full length at high heights. 2. Because of the way that the boom operates, the centre of gravity of the Squirrel hardly changes, no matter what height the boom is at. 3. When the operator raises or lowers the cage, this movement is almost vertical making it easier to drive. Crab Steer Drive Wheels 40º
Drive wheel crab steer from 20º left to 20º right. This can be adjusted using a joystick switch from within the cage. This has the effect of allowing the cage to overhang from either side without having any serious affect to the stability of the Squirrel. Cage Side Swing 120º  Cage swings from 60º right to 60º left. This operation is operated using the left foot along with the crab steer drive wheels provide excellent side overhang while it still allows the operator of the Squirrel to drive in a straight line. Genuine Foot ControlsThe SQUIRREL is a machine with unique foot controls, giving three dimensional movement without the operator shifting his feet. A wide seat belt holds the operator directly above the foot pedals giving a safe and comfortable working position. The fully adjustable spring centred foot pedals allow you to continue working with both hands free AT ALL TIMES. This proven feature alone makes the SQUIRREL the most efficient machine. Pilot Operated Hydraulic ControlsSmall controls (remote pilot proportional hydraulic valves) are fitted into the cage; these only require low volume and low pressure which operates the main drive controls at the base of the Squirrel. This allows for small hydraulic tubes to be inside the boom. The valves work like a "power assist" so that the foot controls become even softer and smoother to operate. Line pressure is significantly reduced as the high pressure hoses are now only very short. Powerful Drive SystemThe shorter high pressure hoses increase the power and efficiency available. Hydraulics have the capacity to handle steep and adverse conditions. The system is protected by a very fine 10 micron suction filter. Low revving hydraulic motors are fitted to drive wheel planetary hubs which are specially made for Crendon Machinery. These feature large 6:1 reduction gearbox with an integrated hydraulic motor and incorporate fail safe multi-disc wet brakes as standard. These brakes work when driving down a slope and eliminates creep and overrun. Hubs have quick spring loaded disengage freewheeling as standard. large tapered wheel bearings & cogs; the hub is twice the weight of our competitors. Special seals on the brake piston for long life. Custom made hydraulic motors are fitted to give very high torque at low speed with 200 bar seals. SQUIRRELs are fitted with special valving that give a soft start and stop, greatly reducing the jerky effect that other cherry pickers have. Engine Quiet No Vibration SQUIRREL has a spacious fully enclosed lockable engine compartment providing ample room to service a range of engines. Standard with Vanguard petrol 16hp for the 657 model and 21hp for the 807 model and with an optional 3 cylinder water cooled Daihatsu 23hp diesel. Two removable 20 lt fuel tanks allows off-site refuelling and increased security. The engine base is supported on compression springs which eliminate vibration. An additional muffler extension is fitted, ensuring a quiet, pleasant working environment. 
Hydraulic Three SpeedThree speed is a standard feature which operates independently from the variable engine rpm, enabling the operator to select a wide range of speeds for faster operation and travelling. The top speed can only be operated when the cage is at low height. Dual caster wheelsTwo independent large diameter caster wheels with an additional horizontal pivot provide a very smooth ride over uneven terrain. As one wheel drops into a wheel rut the other stays at the original level; effectively the height is halved. This allows the operator to comfortably work safely and quickly. These wheels also greatly reduce the possibility of bogging because of their independent rolling action. Horizontal pivots has a large self lubricating replaceable bush. True all-terrainAll models are true all-terrain machines. The 657 comes standard with 31"x15.5x15" 8 ply tyres. Optional extra is bogey wheel drives the same as the 807 model which has two 26"x12x12" 8 ply. 0.8m diameter x 0.37m wide 31" drive and caster wheels with a powerful Three speed hydraulic system enabling them to negotiate undulating terrain.
