The Donnybrook Apple Festival 1989

Ian Atkinson was again chairman of the 1989 festival and the Masonic Lodge joined Apex, Lions and Rotary in co-ordinating the event. Members of the Tourist Committee, Pool Committee, Hospital and Shire were also on the Committee and Vicki Cornford was Secretary and Joe Compagnone was Treasurer. The building of the new Indoor Sporting and Aquatic Centre had begun and the total proceeds of the festival were committed to that project. After a very successful festival at Egan Park in 1987, it was decided to hold the 1989 Festival there again. The Apple Queen competition was again the highlight of the festival and this year attracted twelve entrants.
